Welcome Back for the 2024-2025 School Year!
Dear Members of the Quitman County School District Community,
As we embark on the exciting journey of the 2024-2025 school year, I am filled with optimism and enthusiasm for the remarkable opportunities that lie ahead. It is my pleasure to welcome back our students, families, teachers, and staff. Your unwavering support and dedication are the bedrock of our success, and I am deeply grateful for the vibrant community we have built together.
I am delighted to introduce Mrs. Suwanda Coffey, who has joined us as the new principal of Quitman County K-12 School. Ms. Coffey brings a wealth of experience, a strong commitment to nurturing the development of the whole child by providing high quality educational experiences each day. We are confident that under her leadership, our school will continue to thrive and our students will reach new heights of achievement.
This year, we are excited to launch our new strategic plan, which is designed to propel our district forward and ensure that every student receives the highest quality education. Our strategic plan focuses on four key areas:

- Professional Development and Growth
- Student Achievement and Success
- Organizational and Operational Excellence
We are committed to implementing innovative teaching methods, integrating technology in the classroom, and providing professional development for our educators to ensure they have the tools they need to succeed.
Improving instruction remains at the heart of our mission. This year, we are renewing our commitment to providing exceptional educational experiences for all students. With 50% of our teaching staff being new, we are invigorated with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. Our new teachers bring diverse backgrounds and a shared dedication to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities. Over the summer, we have invested in new safety equipment and updated our safety protocols to ensure a secure learning environment. These measures include:
- Upgraded security systems and surveillance.
- Enhanced emergency response plans.
- Regular safety drills and training for staff and students.
We are committed to creating a safe and supportive atmosphere where students can thrive academically and socially.
